In an unprecedented step, the Board of Directors of Al Ain Chess and Mind Games Club, headed by Sheikh Sultan bin Khalifa bin Sultan bin Shakhbout Al Nahyan, approved the “Global Move” project, which comes within the framework of the club’s vision as a global community sports institution, demonstrating the club’s sporting ambition. At the local and international levels.
The Board of Directors unanimously approved the proposal of Hisham Al-Taher, Managing Director and CEO of the club, announcing the launch of the (Global Move) project by organizing the “Ain Overseas International Chess Festival – Egypt” in cooperation with the Adly Academy and under the supervision of the Egyptian Chess Federation, which will be held in Cairo during the period from November 27 until December 4, with the participation of 600 male and female players.
It is worth noting that Al Ain Club teams will participate in the festival as a preparation camp for the club’s male and female players before their anticipated participation in the Asian Individual Championships for the Cubs, Juniors and Youth, which will be held in Al Ain City during the period from 12 to 22 December, in response to the recommendation of the Club’s Operations and Technical Affairs Department.
The Council took into account that, after evaluating and studying the festival and evaluating its first session, it would travel to various continents of the world, in fulfillment of the slogan “From the Eye to the World,” based on the club’s desire to be a pioneering model in promoting the country and the game, and making it a bridge for communication between different cultures. Taking the policy of the President of the State, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, may God protect him, as a platform and promotion of the values of tolerance, international cooperation, and investment in youth.
Thus, Cairo is the first stop for Al Ainawi’s ambitious project, within the context of joint cooperation between the United Arab Emirates and the Arab Republic of Egypt, which reflects the club’s keenness to make effective contributions to the development and promotion of sports, strengthen ties with other countries, and build bridges of communication with various sports cultures around the world.
The festival will also witness a special National Day celebration, and the December 2nd Blitz Chess Championship will be held on the sidelines of the festival’s main tournament, which will be hosted in the covered hall of Cairo Stadium, in addition to inviting prominent Emirati and Egyptian figures to open the rounds and honorary participation.
Hisham Al-Taher signed a cooperation agreement in organizing the event with the great international player Ahmed Adly, head of the “Adly Academy,” the technical operator for organizing the festival, in the presence of Dr. Hisham El-Gendy, head of the Egyptian Chess Federation, in the Egyptian city of Sharm El-Sheikh.
